Production Methodology
Webboy.net has established a hassle-free method of website production based on a series of stages that are presented online and signed off by the client before proceeding. 'Content' and 'design' are separated into two production paths so that there are minimal delays. The steps we generally use to produce websites are:
Initial phase
- The client accepts quotation/tender, agrees to Webboy.net's Terms and Conditions and makes initial (30%) payment.
- Webboy.net meets with the client to discuss a detailed brief, including proposed direction of the project, site structure and navigation options, and visual references (such as other websites) that may help explain the proposed visual direction. Other issues should also be discussed, such as existing style guides, corporate logos or policies (if appropriate).
- The client delivers a content package (including all images and text needed for the site).
Design production path
- Webboy.net creates a series of initial graphic mock-ups for inspection. These will be displayed on the Webboy.net site at: http://clientname.webboy.net/
- The client inspects the mock-ups and shows colleagues and a sample of target audience users if appropriate. The client does not have to sign off on initial mock-ups as further modifications can take place. We generally allow three stages of mock-ups: initial mock-ups and two refinement stages (if required).
- Webboy.net refines mock-ups and displays them online for feedback.
- The client signs off on final mock-ups.
Content production path
- Webboy.net creates a whitesite (content-only website) for inspection. The aim of this site is to allow the client to fully proof all content without being distracted by graphic elements.
- The client proof-reads the whitesite and provides any content changes to Webboy.net in email form.
- Webboy.net applies changes to the whitesite.
- The client signs off on the whitesite.
Final phase
- Webboy.net 'cuts and codes' the templates for the site and applies these templates to the whitesite.
- Webboy.net uploads the final site onto the Webboy.net server for final inspection by the client.
- The client provides any final content changes. If graphic changes are requested, additional charges will apply, as sign-off has already been given for graphic production.
- Webboy.net applies final changes to the site.
- The client signs off on the final site and makes a final payment to Webboy.net.
- Webboy.net uploads (or otherwise delivers) the site to its final live location.
